Planet Doughnut delivery is now available! Planet Doughnut is a company based in Shrewsbury, started by Duncan and Samantha McGregor in 2017. They first started trading in markets and went on to open their first store in 2018, with plans to open up a store in Chester in 2021. They have now branched out to offer a delivery service in several regions including Manchester!
A box of 6 Planet Doughnut delivery costs £13 with shipping at a flat rate of £4. You can choose between a classic box or a vegan box. This post takes a look at what’s in both boxes as well as my review of the doughnut flavours in the classic box, which was gifted to me.
What flavours can I get?
In their store and at markets, you can buy the doughnut flavours individually, but the delivery boxes are currently set! You can choose between the classic box or the vegan box. Doughnuts can not be replaced in the boxes unless it’s for allergy reasons. They do have plans to expand their range in future.

Planet Doughnut Delivery Classic Box
First, let’s take a look at the dough. All of Planet Doughnut’s doughnuts are yeast-risen as opposed to cake doughnuts where baking powder is usually used. Yeast risen doughnuts are usually airier compared to their cake counterparts, which are crumblier. Most doughnuts in the UK are actually yeast-risen, including supermarket doughnuts and Krispy Kreme. Tim Horton’s supply both depending on the flavour.
The middle of each doughnut has been partially cut (I assume prior to frying) to allow more filling to be added in the centre of the doughnut. All flavours to the doughnuts are added to the top of the doughnuts, as opposed to being filled inside.
Malteser Crunchie Mashup
Does exactly what it says on the tin! A mashup of Malteser & Honeycomb bits with a smooth milk chocolate.
Planet Doughnut
This was the first doughnut I tried out of the box. I love Malteser and Crunchie bars growing up, so this was top pick for me. The chocolate bars provided a nice texture and the milk chocolate icing gelled everything nicely together in one cohesive doughnut. It was a good starter.
Lemon Cheesecake
Our classic doughnut reimagined for 2021! Smooth cream cheese and lemon cream dusted with biscuit crumb over Sicilian lemon icing.
Planet Doughnut
Second on my list was the Lemon Cheesecake. After trying something chocolatey, I wanted to balance the flavour with something that’s not. However, I did not enjoy this doughnut as much as the first, and in fact, it was my least favourite of the box. It was far too sweet for my palate. I did, however, appreciate all the different textures going on from the crunchier icing layer to the smoother cream cheese filling in the middle of the doughnut. Maybe less sugar and more biscuit?
Jammie D
Strawberry icing dipped in delicious biscuit crumb, filled with a sweet mixed fruit jam and topped with a whole Jammie Dodger.
Planet Doughnut
Third up is the Jammie D. I assumed this would be just as sweet as the Lemon Cheesecake so wanted to get it eaten as soon as. Surprisingly, this was not as sweet. The fruit jam filling in the middle of the doughnut gave a lovely tartness and the strawberry icing was not too sweet. I enjoyed the biscuit crumb and wondered if the addition of this element made the doughnut more balanced in taste. Overall, I enjoyed this!
Kinderella
White chocolate icing with shavings of white & milk chocolate filled with Kinderella Hazelnut sauce and topped with a Kinder Hippo or Kinder Bar.
Planet Doughnut
Another chocolate one and this time it features a much-loved chocolate from my teen years, the Kinder hippo. The white chocolate icing works well with the flavours in the hippo. I found the Kinderella hazelnut sauce in the middle a smidge too sweet but was able to balance around this by taking a bit of the sauce, then a bite of the actual doughnut.
Count Wiscoff
Delicious white chocolate icing dipped in Biscoff crumb, filled with caramel cream and topped off with a Biscoff biscuit and white chocolate drizzle.
Planet Doughnut
Back to something more biscuity. Like the Jammie D, I was expecting the biscuit crumb meant this doughnut was not overly sweet. It matched my expectations. The caramel cream in the middle was pleasing to me and the white chocolate drizzle added a nice textural change too.
Salted Caramel Galaxy
Smooth as silk salted caramel icing with a sweet toffee filling, and added sprinkles and Galaxy Bar.
Planet Doughnut
Last but not least, I finished the box with the Salted Caramel Galaxy. Eager eyed readers will notice that the chocolate on top is not a Galaxy bar, but a Cadbury’s one! This aside, I enjoyed the salted caramel icing as it was a nice balance of sweet and salty. The sprinkles on the side not containing the chocolate bar were very welcome. Who doesn’t like eating chocolate sprinkles?
Overall comments
A lot of what Planet Doughnut does is to take classic and popular flavours, chocolates and biscuits and refashion them into a doughnut. This means there is bound to be at least a few that you will like. Additionally, the fact that there is a vegan box means that more people can enjoy them.
The doughnuts are on the sweeter end of the scale. If you like an indulgent doughnut, then Planet Doughnut’s selection is perfect for you.
