#AD / Beastro MCR [CLOSED]

Updated 15th June 2020

Bangers and Bacon were the winner of The Kitchens start up street food competition last year and have thus been given permanent fixture in Spinningfields, as Beastro. James and Heather are also known for creating Bobbys Bangers, traditional butchers sausages handmade in Lancashire, whereas the third part of Beastro, Richard, is a brilliant chef.

I really like how they source all their meat and vegetables locally as this is something I strive to do myself! I was invited to the press release to see what makes this place amazing.*

Beastro’s logo can be seen in its windows, with a large graphic black and white sign above. These graphic symbols continue into Beastro’s interior.

I really like the interior of Beastro and in fact, it’s similar to how I want my own kitchen to look; I’ve been meaning to paint the walls a similar colour! The plates on the wall give a country farmhouse feel and the graphics on the signage are repeated in some of these plates, as well as the lights and the wooden cow plaque on the wall. I decided to sit at the chef’s table, overlooking the kitchen so I can see close up how things are run in the kitchen.

The canapes

As it was the press release, the evening’s food was served as canapes. There was plenty being served up by the kitchen and it gave me the opportunity to sample a wide variety of food Beastro has to offer, without feeling too full!

Beatro’s meat and fish options are cooked well with the beef cooked medium and the chicken and fish still moist. With traditional British classics like Toad in the Hole cooked well in delicious pastry, British food has never looked so good!

Mini leek crumbles

But don’t worry, Richard has assured me that there are some options for vegetarians too! These mini leek crumbles were very moreish!

Beastro also does really nice desserts to end the meal with. I’ve enjoyed everything I tried on the night, especially the rhubarb and custard bites on the lower left.

comments

As this was a press event, I don’t feel I can fully rate the food as everything was gone in more or less two bites. I will reiterate that everything I tried on the night was very nice and I look forward to one day coming back here for an actual meal. Their menus change with the seasons as they source everything locally. Beastro does brunch Fridays – Sundays as well as their standard lunches and dinners. As the name indicates, this is a haven for meat eaters. There is one vegetarian option in each section of the menu but vegans best stay clear of this place.

*As this was a press release, all food on the night was free. This did not affect my opnion of this review.
